Hong Kong, excessively Chinese

Off standard city, Hong Kong stands out with a particular identity, between hyper-urbanization and old-fashioned charm. A stay in Hong Kong is a breathtaking experience in the conquering modern China, while also meeting its traditions and authenticity.

When wandering through the SoHo neighbourhood, the hype Wyndham Street or Hollywood Road restaurants, you quickly realize that you are not in a regular Asian city. After a flight to Hong Kong, take a seat in a double-decker tramway, which guarantees you a ride outside of time where the English charm arises at every corner. By taking the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island, you can discover towering skyscrapers; from Victoria Peak, the panoramic view on the skyline and the Bay is breathtaking. The Symphony of Lights that illuminates every night at 8 p.m. is a show not to be missed; the best viewpoint is still the Kowloon district, which harbors the world's highest population density !

Change of atmosphere; make a detour to Tai O, a small fishing village with its authentic huts on stilts. Because a trip to Hong Kong is primarily a land tour of Asia, one cannot miss the district of Sheung Wan. A must-see according to Hong Kong travel guides. Typically Chinese, it is full of traditional shops housing medicinal plants, shark fins or animal viscera. Make a stopover on the island of Lantau where you can admire the magnificent Buddhist Po Lin Monastery and the huge Buddha Tian Tian – 34 meters tall (111 feet) – which seems to watch over Hong Kong bay.
