A cultural adventure on Fifth Avenue

The Museum Mile Festival was created in the 1970s and has become the must-see event for New York culture lovers. Every year, during a memorable evening, the nine principal museums which share the prestigious address of Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, open their doors for free between 6 pm and 9 pm, allowing people to discover the incredible artistic and cultural richness of this American city.

Begin your tour at a major centre of Caribbean art, El Museo del Barrio. Here you can explore thousands of modern and contemporary art works, as well as permanent exhibitions dedicated to popular traditions such as the famous Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos).

Continue on your way to the Museum of the City of New York, to admire the collection of exclusive photographs by film director Stanley Kubrick. In these galleries, you can admire the unique photos taken by this young genius of the image while exploring the streets of the Big Apple. If you have an hour to spare, stop off at the iconic Guggenheim Museum to admire the 200 paintings by Kandinsky. An exciting immersion in art from all over the globe.

Art for young and old

During the Museum Mile Festival, Fifth Avenue is pedestrianised and becomes a paradise for strollers. Over more than 1 kilometre, along Central Park, wherever your gaze lands, art and culture are celebrated in a thousand and one ways.

Amidst a festive and friendly atmosphere, you will be spellbound by a wide variety of street artists entertaining the crowds: concerts ranging from jazz to Broadway tunes, string quartets, traditional and contemporary dance, jugglers and musicians... both young and old will be wide-eyed in amazement.

Take part in the numerous artistic workshops for a totally immersive experience: salsa or drawing courses, the creation of chalk frescoes on the ground, or even fun activities based on fragrances. An invaluable opportunity to discover for free the riches offered by the most prestigious museums in the world and to rub shoulders with the cosmopolitan population of New York.
