A one-of-a-kind festival

With its eclectic line-up, Misty Fest is not like any other festival. From the private world of unknown singer-songwriters to world music and jazz, it is celebrating its difference for the 9th year in a row. In Lisbon, a diverse range of concerts will take you from the Tivoli BBVA (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria), a small century-old Italian theatre, to the Cultural Centre of Belém (CCB), a symbol of the modern city at the other end of Lisbon.

Although the festival takes place in all four corners of the country, the capital has some of the biggest names in world music topping its bill. From the soft melodies of Australian Scott Matthew at the start of November to the jazzy double-bass of Avishai Cohen at the end of the month, the Lisbon itinerary will delight long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Grasp the opportunity to enjoy the Lisbon sunshine to the full. Fall in time with the gentle pace of Portuguese life. In the old quarter of Alfama, your instinct will guide you from cobbled streets to markets, from art galleries to minuscule bars. Climb up to the Alto de Santa Catalina viewpoint and watch the sun set over the city's roofs and Tagus River.

Singing sensations at the Tivoli theatre

On the 3rd of November, you need to make your way from Praça do Marquês de Pombal up Avenida da Liberdade, the longest and most elegant avenue in Lisbon. Your company is requested at the Tivoli BBVA theatre where you will attend a concert by Anna von Hausswolff. Her soprano voice, earning her comparisons with Kate Bush, plunges you into her deep songs accompanied by solemn organ undertones. Listening to the singer perform live is one of the most mind-blowing experiences that contemporary music has to offer.

Or maybe you would prefer to go to the Tivoli BBVA the following day for another highlight of Misty Fest – a concert by Scott Matthew. The Australian singer with his deep tones has made Portugal his second home since collaborating with composer Rodrigo Lion. His performance will stay etched in your memory for years to come.

Jazz greats at the Cultural Centre of Belém

Get ready to move to the beat until the end of November at the festival's enthralling concerts. One of the most eagerly awaited artistes is Avishai Cohen, the number one double-bassist of our times who is performing on stage at the Cultural Centre of Belém from 20 to 25 November 2018. For his Lisbon dates, the Israeli musician is joining forces with Nitai Hershkovits and his piano, twirling his double-bass in a flight of memorable rhythms.

After your musical interlude, head to your hotel, the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa, just a hop from the Cultural Centre. A gastronomic meal awaits you in its restaurant, the Feitoria. Awarded a Michelin star, chef João Rodrigues' distinguished eatery invites you to discover the most surprising local flavours. The smoked beets, fresh goats' cheese and tangerine is a surprising taste sensation. An exquisite meal to round off your fabulous musical evening to perfection in enchanting Lisbon.
